+50 Life magazine

Dear Reader,

Someone once said that old age didn't seem so bad when you considered the alternative. But just what is old age in the 21st Century?

We used to be told that life began at 40 and then we reached 50 and still felt full of vim and vigour. The truth is that we are living longer, staying fitter and managing to keep our marbles for longer than any previous generation.

We were stunned all those years ago when we discovered Sir Francis Chichester had sailed solo around the world at the grand old age of 65. Today, we wouldn't bat an eyelid.

Our grandparents decided they had reached old age when they reached two score and ten. Our generation looks in the mirror and, after pausing to admire the odd characterful line, remain confident and comfortable in our well-toned skins.

Archant Life's county magazines are celebrating the marvellous men and women who have sailed past the age of 50 while still doing remarkable things.

This digital magazine is packed with inspiring stories about people who steadfastly refuse to leave the fast lane. There is also an abundance of information about services which, we hope, will help you to live life to the full.

That's got to be better than the alternative!

Best wishes
