Bradford 10k run to raise funds for Leeds-based national charity Epilepsy Action

Leeds-based national charity Epilepsy Action is urging people across Yorkshire to burn off their Christmas calories and take part in the charity’s fifth annual Bradford 10k road race. The event raises money to help support the 600,000 people affected by epilepsy in the UK.

Around 1,500 runners will take to the streets of Bradford on Sunday 25 March.

The runners will follow a 10k route, from Centenary Square to Frizinghall and back. The route is mostly flat and will be closed to all traffic. The course is suitable for first-time runners and elite runners looking to achieve a personal best time.

The race has become a permanent fixture on the charity’s events calendar since it began in 2008. Since then, it has raised over £125,000 for Epilepsy Action and almost 3,500 runners have crossed the finish line.

The run is supported by Airedale Athletics, who will provide runners with training tips and training clinics, supervised by qualified coaches.  

Katie Stocks, fundraising events officer at Epilepsy Action, said: “The Bradford 10k has been a fantastic event since it began in 2008. There is always a great atmosphere and sense of occasion on the day. Every penny raised helps Epilepsy Action to continue its vital work, supporting people with epilepsy all across the UK.”

Entry costs £18, or £16 for runners affiliated to a UK athletics running club. Prizes are

awarded for both males and females placed first, second and third, and for winners of the veterans' categories. A free T-shirt will be provided to everyone who successfully completes the race. Refreshments will be available throughout the day and during the course of the race.

Epilepsy affects one in every 103 people in the UK alone and 87 people are diagnosed with the condition every day.
