Busy & Exciting times on Partridge Farm!!

3rd May 2011 08:52:11

A busy time of late on Partridge Farm as we prepare for our own arrivals of "Double trouble!" The twins are due in the next 2 weeks and Duncan has been working very hard to try and get the farm straight before their arrivals!! The Thatch on the farmhouse is still not finished but looking very smart, hopefully the sunny weather we are due to have this week will enable the thatchers to finish off and then it can be revealed in all its glory with the removal of the scaffolding. The Partridge Farm Butchery floor has been sealed and painted and looks very smart, all that is left to do now is to kit it out and finish putting the hanging rails into the maturing fridges ready to begin making the charcuterie. Our new barn is completed and looks fantastic thank you to Tony Isaac from TJI Constructions from Tiverton. They have done a very professional job and worked all hours to get it completed on time.
The pigs are all happy on fresh grass and have almost eaten all the stuble turnips! We have 3 GOS weaners left (boars) for sale if anyone is interested please call or e-mail. Lambing has now finished and all the lambs have grown well and are soon to be weaned from their Mums. We now have a new sheep race which Duncan has worked hard to build which will help when it comes to foot trimming & medicating time! Calving began a couple of weeks ago, our Bull "Vinnie Jones" has thrown some fantastic calves, very easy calving and all very handsome If the warm weather continues all the cattle will be going out onto grass, not long now hopefully!! We have a fantastic new chicken pen surrounding our pond and will hopefully soon be getting more hens and some ducks so we will have some tasty eggs to sell. Due to the arrival of our twins this month we will not be taking any orders for Pork for delivery in May but are now taking orders for our Rare Breed pork cuts, bacon & sausages for delivery in June, if you are interested in placing an order please e-mail or phone by 27th May.
