The Midnight Walk reward with a difference

When Midnight Walkers complete their 10 or 5 mile walk in aid of Iain Rennie Grove House Hospice Care (IRGH) in June their achievement will be marked with the presentation of a special finishers reward from Wheathampstead based Jeweller, Rachel Jeffrey.

Hospice Charity Song Four friends are celebrating achieving their goal to raise £100,000 for hospice care. Their final fundraising event will be a song specially written and composed for local hospices which they hope will be a Christmas No 1 (well at least in the local area!).

Time for bus drivers to do the running

A team of local UNO bus drivers is training hard to take part in the forthcoming Herts10K on October 9, 2011. As part of a University of Hertfordshire initiative to improve the health and fitness of their bus drivers, a group of eight volunteers have now registered to compete in their first ever race.

10K runner basks in Turkish sunshine

Normally prizes are reserved for the elite athletes who take part in runs. However one lucky HERTS 10K runner found that their 10K run in Harpenden was rewarded with a holiday in the sun. Last October, David Chalk took part in the HERTS 10K along with 3,000 other runners. David has taken part in every HERTS 10K since the event started in 2006 and every year David asks friends and families to sponsor his run.
