Heartwood’s third tree planting season is coming to a close and we would like to thank every single volunteer who has helped us to reach our ambitious target of 100,000 trees. Not only that we have reached the half way point; 300,000 trees have now been planted since the beginning of the project in 2009.

Planting the 300,000th tree at Heartwood Forest

Saturday was a momentous occasion at Heartwood; we planted the 300,000th tree since the project began back in 2009. This marks the halfway point of the tree planting programme at what will become England’s largest new native woodland, covering over 850 acres.
