TERRY WAITE COMES TO CORNWALL
One of the worlds most famous hostages, Terry Waite, is coming to Cornwall in September to deliver a talk on his story. It is 20 years this year since he was released after spending almost five years in captivity, the last four of them in solitary confinement.
An Evening with Terry Waite is being held on Saturday 17 September at The Brasserie at Roserrow, near Polzeath. After a drinks reception, guests will hear about Terrys experiences as both a negotiator and a hostage, with opportunities to question him after enjoying a two course meal. 10 from every ticket sold will go to Emmaus UK, a secular charity supported by Terry that enables homeless people to leave State support and return to mainstream life through engaging in meaningful work. The charity is currently working to establish an Emmaus centre locally to help homeless people in Cornwall.
Randy Sohnchen, Roserrows owner said: Terry remains a source of inspiration and his story is still incredible to hear 20 years after his release. We are delighted to be welcoming him to Cornwall to speak, and with each ticket raising money for charity, we look forward to welcoming people to Roserrow for an informative and enjoyable evening. Tickets are already selling fast so book now to secure your place.
Terry Waite added: I have always loved Cornwall and enjoy spending time here to write and relax. Ive been in Cornwall a lot this year as we are working with a small and determined band of trustees who are identifying where and how we can work to help the homeless in Cornwall rebuild their lives. The group are always looking for people with skills to help if you think you can help please contact Emmaus.
Tickets for the event cost 35 with 10 from each ticket going to Emmaus UK for Emmaus Cornwall. To book your ticket contact Roserrow on 01208 864602 or firstname.lastname@example.org. Spaces are limited.
