A Sussex town has been named as one of the prettiest towns to go Christmas shopping in the UK.
Lewes was featured among the seven places featured in ‘The UK’s prettiest towns for Christmas shopping' list by The Times.
The newspaper wrote: “Like it or not, Christmas is on the horizon, and the best way to combat any shopping-related stress is to start early.
“We’ve found towns yet to be taken over by big-name chains in some of the prettiest corners of the UK, so you can pair your quest to find one-off gifts with a welcome staycation.”

Lewes among prettiest UK towns for Christmas shopping
Discussing Lewes The Times wrote: "The big-brand shops of Brighton may be just down the road, but your pounds are better spent in the independent shops of Lewes.
"It’s already known as an arty weekend escape and a gateway to the South Downs, but the shopping is excellent too."
Some of the specific shops that were recommended included the womenswear store Along Came She along with the vintage clothing shop Rehab.
Elsewhere From Victoria was complimented for its botanical gifts.
For those in the mood for proper seasonal spirit, there is a Christmas Fair taking place in the town on November 18.
Additionally, if you time your visit right you can access some markets which run weekly, including a food market on Fridays and a flea market on Mondays and Saturdays.
Lewes named best place to live in Sussex for 2023
Lewes is not only recognised for its Christmas shopping options but was also named the best place to live in Sussex earlier in the year.
This was according to the women's lifestyle site Muddy Stilettos which creates a 'best places to live' list each year.
This is broken down into counties with 8-10 entrants in each, and Lewes was considered to be the best in Sussex.
