A glitzy charity ball was held in memory of a young Stockport actor

The glitz and glamour of Hollywood arrived in Cheshire for an evening in aid of the Cardiac Risk in the Young charity. The ball, held at The Hallmark Hotel, Handforth, raised £20,000. The Future Recruitment Christmas in Hollywood Ball was staged in memory of Darren Shahlavi, an actor and martial artist from Stockport who died suddenly in 2015 from a heart attack caused by an undiagnosed heart condition.

Hosted by Coronation Street’s Kym Marsh and Key 103 DJ Mike Toolan, the event, organised by Entertainment Today and sponsored by Quote My Life, was a collaboration between Darren’s sister, Elisabeth Shahlavi, Jane Houghton of Future Recruitment, and the Stoke City footballer Phil Bardsley and his wife, the Real Housewives of Cheshire star, Tanya Bardsley.

A champagne reception welcomed over 300 guests who then enjoyed dinner with entertainment from singers Caine Ward and Alexander Stewart, followed by sets from comedian Jason Manford and dance duo Yvette Royle and Kenny Paget le Tour.
