‘Tis the season to be jolly! The whole of Somerset will be full of festivities with plenty of charming Christmas markets, late night shopping opportunities and Christmas events. We bring you the festive happenings from all over the county
From November 24 - December 11, the centre of Bath will be transformed into a festive frenzy with 170 chalets lining the streets surrounding the Roman Baths and the stunning Bath Abbey. The award-winning Christmas market will be packed full of gorgeous gifts, freshly baked foodie treats and warming mulled wine. Don’t miss the opportunity to meet Father Christmas at his grotto or a skate on the ice rink nearby.
Bristol’s Broadmead, part of the popular Bristol Shopping Quarter, will host the city’s German Christmas market. From November 11 - December 24, around 45 chalets will provide inventive present ideas, alongside tankards of beer and festive foodie treats to accompany your Christmas shopping in the city centre.
On December 4 the town of Dulverton will be lit by Christmas lights on the annual Dulverton by Starlight event. Expect a dazzling firework display and plenty of street entertainment to ease you into the festive season.
The annual Dunster by Candlelight is in its 30th year, with proceeds going to Somerset’s St Margaret’s Hospice. On December 2 and 3, the charming medieval village will be lit by candlelight with a lantern procession and plenty of festive historic entertainment. Local businesses and the village’s wide variety of stalls will be open for late-night shopping.

Head to Glastonbury on November 26 for the town’s annual Frost Fayre with lots for the whole family to enjoy. Dotted around the town’s magnificent Christmas tree adorned with lights, peruse plenty of stalls, pick up Christmas gifts at late night shopping and visit Santa’s Grotto in the picturesque grounds of the Abbey.
Among the stunning surroundings of Hestercombe Gardens, discover over 60 stalls with unique handcrafted items, gorgeous gift ideas and delicious treats to try. On November 18 - 20 browse the Christmas market, enjoy the choir carol service and indulge in a creamy hot chocolate with all the trimmings.
Ilminster’s Christmas Tree Festival will return this year on December 5 - 10 displaying beautifully decorated trees and pretty crib scenes. Embrace the festivities in the Somerset market town before heading to the pub for a drink in front of a roaring log fire.

The pretty port village of Porlock will be full of festive cheer on November 26 and 27 with a special Christmas shopping weekend. Many of the shops will have extended opening hours for you to pick up your presents, alongside a Santa trail enjoyable for all the family. On December 10, head to the village for more late night shopping, festival foodie treats and street entertainment.
For a Christmas extravaganza make a trip to the Royal Bath & West Showground, near Shepton Mallet from November 25 - 27. The Christmas Shopping Show will offer a vast range of gift buying opportunities in a thoroughly festive atmosphere, with live musical entertainment and an appearance from Father Christmas to boot!
Enjoy an evening of fabulous festive cheer on December 17 when the Wells City Band will be playing a Christmas concert in the town hill. With plenty of music to enjoy, the performance is bound to get you in the festive spirit!
Father Christmas will be heading to the Grand Pier in the delightful seaside town of Weston-Super-Mare from December 3. Follow the festive trail along the Pier to find Santa’s Grotto buried in a magical winter wonderland. Make sure to visit The Helicopter Museum where Santa will arrive by helicopter with his elves. There will be plenty of charity stalls and seasonal fare to browse through.
Wincanton’s Christmas Fair returns this year to the racecourse on November 22. Under the cover and in the warmth of a marquee, browse around 45 independent stalls selling unique artisan gifts to delight family and friends this Christmas. Festive refreshments will be available all day to enjoy.
