Magazine Apps

1. Will the App work on my device?

  • Our apps are designed to work on the vast majority of Apple and Android phones and tablets.


2. How do I download the App for my subscription?

  • Open the Apple App Store or Google Play store on your device.
  • Search for the publication name i.e. "Cornwall Life", you’ll then see the relevant app ready to download.
  • Download the free App to your devices by clicking on the download button.


3. How do I login?

  • If you have purchased a digital subscription within the app itself, you won’t need to login as your subscription purchase will be linked to your Apple or Google Play account and will keep you logged in.
  • If you have purchased a digital subscription via our subscriptions website or over the phone, you can login by tapping an edition cover on the main Magazines screen.
  • When prompted, click the ‘Log In’ button and enter your surname and account number. These details can be found in the Welcome email you received when you took out your subscription.
  • Once logged in you will have full access to all editions and content within the app, including our extensive archive of past issues.


4. How do I read editions?

  • Open the app
  • Select the issue you want to view from the Magazines screen of the app
  • Click the cover image to open it.
  • Once you’ve opened your first edition you’ll be asked to choose how you’d like to read it. You can choose between our new Enhanced editions, which are optimised to provide an excellent reading experience on mobile and tablet devices, or choose our E-editions, which display the magazine in the same layout as the print version, where you can turn the pages and read from cover to cover.


5. How do I change my reading experience?

  • Open the app
  • Click the ‘Settings’ button
  • Click ‘Choose your reading experience’
  • Select ‘Enhanced Edition’ or ‘E-edition’
  • Click Next

You can change your reading experience at any point.


6. How do I use the magazine reader?

  • When you first open an edition, you’ll see the top and bottom navigation bars, displaying the reader options. In our enhanced editions these will display permanently whereas in our E-edition experience, you can hide these bars by tapping on the screen between the bars. To bring them back up, tap anywhere on the screen again.
  • To move between pages, swipe left or right on the screen or use the Page Viewer accessible by tapping the centre of the bottom navigation bar.
  • In our enhanced editions, you scroll vertically through articles to enjoy the full content experience. In our E-editions, you can zoom in on a page by double tapping the screen or pinch and zoom by using your finger and thumb to zoom in and out.


7. How do I view editions when I am not connected to the internet?

  • You can download editions to your device when you are online and save them to view when you are offline – please follow the instructions below regarding how to download an edition.


8. How do I download an edition?

  • Open the app
  • On the Magazines screen, tap the download button below the edition you wish to download.
  • Once downloaded, your editions can be found in the 'My Content' section by tapping the 'My Content' button.


9. How do I delete downloaded editions?

  • Open the app
  • Tap the 'My Content' button to go to the 'My Content' section of the app and locate your downloaded editions.
  • Tap the 'Delete' button under the edition you wish to delete.


10. The App is not responding, how do I resolve this?

  • Exit the App by pressing the Home button on your device
  • Open up the list of running Apps (Tap the square button on Android devices – Double tap home button on Apple devices)
  • Locate the App and swipe to close.
  • Return to the home screen by tapping the 'Home' button.
  • Open the App again

If the problem persists, please try the following;

  • Open the App and tap the ‘Settings’ button.
  • Select ‘App Settings’ and then tap ‘Data Usage and Clear Cache’.
  • If the problem still persists there may have been a problem during the installation of the App. In this case, please try deleting the App from your device and reinstalling it from the App Store.

  • Select the issue you wish to view from the main Magazines screen and click the cover image to open it.
