The nominations for the 2014 Manchester Restaurant of the Year Award. The winner announced at the Hilton Hotel, Deansgate, Manchester, on Monday October 27th 2014
Mr Cooper’s House & Garden, Midland Hotel, city centre
Forget all that TV nonsense about ‘restaurant wars’ in Manchester because The French (last year’s winner) and Manchester House are so very different. Mr Cooper’s, Simon Rogan’s ‘other’ restaurant at the Midland Hotel, is different again and delightfully so. No pressure to appreciate; just an invitation to enjoy great food cooked with flair and imagination with the minimum of fuss in uniquely charming surroundings.

Manchester House, city centre
He may be the youngest British chef ever to win a Michelin Star - at the age of 22 - and former head chef at London’s Dorchester grill, but Aiden Byrne’s ambition still burns bright at the Manchester House and it shows. Living Ventures’ £3m investment has produced a strikingly modern flagship restaurant where Byrne’s precision cooking of dishes with forthright flavours reigns supreme.

Neighbourhood, city centre
New York-style razzmatazz comes to Manchester’s booming Spinningfields. Themed on ber-restaurants in The Big Apple’s meatpacking district, the striking decor combines ‘warehouse chic’ with a touch of class. The international menu of premium cuts and superb seafood has been given a Manhattan style execution by head chef Yal Chin,, carrying of the work of Gareth Jones who honed his considerable skills during a long stint with Simon Radley at the Chester Grosvenor.
