Announcing a ‘wild’ foodie event at Simply Wood in aid of ShelterBox
Simply Wood, the Bude-based designers and manufacturers of bespoke, handmade kitchens are launching another of their popular ‘In Season’ foodie evenings continuing to raise money to fund 25 ShelterBoxes – one to mark each year of their business. For an evening with a difference but a distinctly Cornish theme, they will be welcoming Miles Lavers of Foodswild on Tuesday 28 June.
Miles who is Cornwall’s respected proponent of foraging and cooking with wild food will be demonstrating his skills in the Simply Wood Kilkhampton showroom kitchen by preparing a mixed menu including cooking with seaweeds, making a muesli-style bar and a dish of wild pigeon salad. If this is not enough to get the tastebuds racing, there is sure to be a sample or two of his own brewed ‘Cornish Stingers’ – wild stinging nettle beer.
For those who prefer a different drink to accompany their meal, Oliver Tullett of North Coast Wines will be returning to the event by popular demand and, as is the norm, offering a selection of wines to complement the food on offer.
Mark Trewin of Simply Wood comments ’once again we have the support of a good team of locally based food and drink experts for this worthy ShelterBox fund-raising initiative. We’ve all heard a lot about Miles so are looking forward to sampling his food and, what a good idea to cut down on food miles and use naturally occurring Cornish products!’
Ahead of the event and considering the charity theme of the evening, Miles Lavers said ‘it’s always a pleasure to cook for a great cause’.
Tickets cost 15 each and are limited to around 50 people. They can be purchased online at http://www.simplywoodkitchens.co.uk/shelterbox.php or by calling Simply Wood on 01288 321772.
