The Blackwell family has been farming in the Coggeshall area for four generations.

The ethos of their award-winning Farm Shop, Butchery and Deli is to support local producers and farmers and over 90% of the produce they market is sourced from within a 20-mile radius.

They source meat from their own farm or local farmers known and trusted by themselves for their good husbandry skills. The deli is stocked with cheese from across Europe as well as some great English favourites. They also offer traditional hams, cooked meats and chorizo and salami from Norwich.

They have a large supply of traditionally grown seasonal veg and the on-site kitchen produces a selection of seasonal ready to bake pies along with soups, sausage rolls, pasties and dishes such as beef bourguignon, Moroccan lamb and lasagne, to name but a few. They also have a delicious variety of cakes and desserts.

Ashlyns Farm Shop are dedicated to stocking the best in fresh, local, and organic produce. Their award-winning Farm Shop offers a carefully chosen selection of high quality produce from trusted, small and family businesses across the region.

From around mid-June the Pick-Your-Own fields open, with strawberries, raspberries, gooseberries, blackcurrants, redcurrants, cherries, tummelberries and plums available as they ripen (timings and availability are weather dependent, please check the website or social media).

From the autumn you’ll find over 40 varieties of English apple from their own orchards, and their own apple juice and still and sparkling cider. Relax at the Bee Shed Coffee House and enjoy excellent coffee, breakfasts, light lunches, delicious homemade cake and a sumptuous afternoon tea.

Young farmers will enjoy the friendly farm animals and ride-on tractors. Pre-order superb local ham, beef, pork, turkey, goose and chicken for Christmas, and hampers packed with delicious local produce.

Deersbrook Farm

Deersbrook Farm is a family farm producing fantastic British beef. They are in their third generation, with the fourth growing up fast. Farming is a tough way to earn a living but one which they love and are dedicated to. They strive to produce the best naturally delicious meat with the highest welfare standards that benefits the livestock, environment and the consumer.

They use traditional farming methods, with cattle being grazing out on the meadows all year round. Which equates to very happy cows! To compliment this, their hay, straw and silage are produce by Deersbrook farm for the winter feed and bedding. They keep cattle to the highest welfare standards and are farm assured by the Red Tractor and allow them to naturally grow up to 29 months, inline with UK government guidelines.

In 2015 they celebrated being High commended in the Field to Fork category in the Fine Food and Drink Awards. When they also became Essex’s first 100% grass-fed cattle, certified by Pasture for Life Association www.pastureforlife.org

Their home-produced 100% certified grass-fed beef is predominately from our Native Sussex cattle. They are reared on mature grassland to provide truly great tasting, nutritious beef. You’ll find their beef to be a deep plumy red with creamy coloured fat, showing that their cattle have lived on natural premium conditions. They allow the beef to dry age, maturing naturally on the bone for 28 days, to develop the flavour and texture of the meat. Then the local traditional butcher prepares the vast range of cuts that they provide to you.

Spencer’s Farm Shop

Spencer’s Farm Shop is located in a quaint North Essex village just off the A131 between Halstead and Sudbury. Located on a fruit farm they have home grown produce virtually all year round & are famous for their soft fruits throughout the summer including delicious strawberries and mouth-watering cherries!

Why not come to ‘Pick Your Own’, which is available on all soft fruits between June & September. The Farm Shop itself specialises in selling as much fresh produce from the region and has a huge range of local delights from award winning local wines, beers, fresh sauces, fresh meat, pies, ready meals & ice cream to locally made chocolate, preserves & chutneys.

They also have a new Gift Shop full of unique home accessories and lovely gifts and cards. Outside the shop is a huge area for children to explore with a sand pit, ride on tractors and playhouses.

The Coffee Shop serves breakfasts, lunches & afternoon tea alongside delicious homemade cakes and refreshments.

Dan Hull prepared foods is a food company based in Danbury, Essex. They started at the back of our farm shop back in 2013, suppling a few great local delis. Things have gone really well, and they moved to a bigger site in Danbury last year as they had out grown their little kitchen.

They handmake a selection of award-winning, locally sourced, meat pies, frozen ready meals, desserts, cooked and sliced meats, coleslaws, sausage rolls, potato salad, pâtés and parfaits. They love producing new and seasonal freshly made products and love to hear from customers too, so drop them a line or call.

Back at the Crouch Valley farm shop in Burnham, you will find only the finest cuts of Salt Marsh Lamb, Blythburgh Pork and 28 day matured Beef. Sourced carefully from local farms, they hand butcher our meat using traditional techniques.
