Nothing is more British than the fish and chip shop. Whether you prefer enjoying them by the seafront or slouching on your sofa, Norfolk has got you covered

Grosvenor Fish Bar

28 Lower Goat Lane, Norwich

The Grosvenor Fish Bar has been a much-loved resident of Pottergate for over thirty years but is far from the average chippy. As well as serving all the favourites, the menu at Grosvenor's includes some unique dishes such as garlic squid rings with aioli, tuna steak rolls served with wasabi mayo, and a seabass wrap with a tangy mango salsa.

Mary Janes

27-29 Garden Street, Cromer

Don't be fooled by the modest appearance of this little blue restaurant on the North Norfolk coast, because its classic fish and chips are not to be missed. The staff at Mary Janes have been serving the people of Cromer (and its many visitors) for over fifty years.

The place is a perfect example of the phrase 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it', offering an opportunity to enjoy the classic fish and chip shop atmosphere while enjoying delicious dishes that have stood the test of time.

No1

1 New Street, Cromer

Owned by Michelin starred chef Galton Blackiston, No1 in Cromer offers two different types of dining: a top notch fish and chip shop below a renowned seafood restaurant. As well as offering classic dishes such as haddock and chips, they've also added their own international twist to the menu with dishes such as smoked haddock and mussel chowder and prawn and mussel laksa.

Tuck into a hearty Cromer crab burger or try the homemade Norfolk ice cream (made with milk sourced from the nearby Lakenham Creamery) while enjoying views over the beach and Cromer Pier.

The Rembrandt

65 Dereham Road, Easton

The Rembrandt offers classic fish and chips but has a unique restaurant feel and is another local favourite that has built up a strong reputation due to its welcoming service and mouth-watering food.

Just off the A47, The Rembrandt makes a great place to stop off during your journey through the county with enough options to satisfy the whole family (including pizzas and an extensive dessert menu).

The Sheringham Trawler

50 High Street, Sheringham

The Sheringham Trawler is a restaurant that really lives up to its name due to its cute and kitsch nautical décor and, more importantly, its wide selection of fish. There is something for everyone, with gluten-free options, homemade burgers and mixed salads and it prides itself on a family-friendly approach.

The excellent customer service and tasty food has earned it rave reviews and is often one of the busiest places in town.
