Fall down the rabbit hole into the topsy turvy world of Lewis Carroll’s classic novel at the Assembly House for its summer themed afternoon tea
From 1st August to 1st September, visitors to the tea room can enjoy vanilla toadstool macarons, a pink-and-purple-striped mini cheesecake with a Cheshire Cat's grin on top, blueberry cakes with Alice's famous key alongside sandwiches, Tweedledee and Tweedledum scones and tea.
Sip your mysterious potion, labelled 'drink me' before tucking into expertly made pastries and savouries all in the resplendent surroundings of the Grade I listed Georgian house.
Afternoon teas are served seven days a week between 12pm and 4.30pm, and are £21.95 each or two for £42. Children's versions for under 12s are available for £12.95. Vegetarian, gluten-free and dairy-free versions are also available - see the website for full menus.
