The Korean Cowgirl

This unique restaurant brings east and west together; American-style BBQ is mixed with spices from Korean cuisine to create the flavours of The Korean Cowgirl on Palace Street in Canterbury. The Cowgirl’s Baps include brisket with BBQ sauce, pickles and onions; pulled pork with homemade coleslaw; or grilled halloumi cheese, vegetables and red pepper sauce for the vegetarians, all served on buttery brioche rolls with sweet potato fries.

The Unicorn Inn

The Unicorn Inn on St Dunstan’s Street was built in the 1600s and retains some historic charm. Make sure to peruse the menu as it features five tempting burgers. Try the “Big Steve Burger” with pork and/or beef, mozzarella, bacon and onion rings in a brioche bun; or the ultimate veggie burger with halloumi, cheddar, onion, lettuce and tomato also in a brioche bun. All burgers come with chips and salad.

The Old Brewery Tavern

The Old Brewery Tavern on Stour Street is a lively, modern pub, which doubles as a nightclub, with laudable design elements that make a stylish spot to enjoy a burger with friends. There are up to six types on the menu from the cheese burger with a 100% beef patty, your choice of cheddar or blue cheese and topped with lettuce, gherkins, red onion and tomato; or maybe a chicken burger with coleslaw, tomato and lettuce. Sounds delicious!

The Parrot

Tucked away on Church Lane is The Parrot, a traditional, “olde worlde” pub that exudes historic charm. With lots of attractive dishes made fresh with locally sourced ingredients, burgers are a big feature of the menu. The Retro Burger is made with two beef steak patties, double Cheddar cheese, smoky tomato mayonnaise, shredded lettuce, caramelised onions and sliced pickles.

The Foundry Brew Pub

The Foundry, on White Horse Lane, is a microbrewery and pub housed in a historic foundry. Burgers are served in a brioche bun with chips, sweet potato fries or Cajun fries and include appealing creations such as Cajun spiced chicken with blue cheese crumbles and bacon or maybe a pulled pork burger with BBQ sauce with pickle and cheese melted on top. With plenty of ales to choose from to accompany your food, this is beer and burger heaven!

The Granville

Tucked away in the cosy village of Lower Hardres – just outside Canterbury – is The Granville, a charming pub that is highly acclaimed and, most importantly, features burgers such as the venison burger with red onion marmalade, or the classic with homemade ketchup. Extras can be added such as bacon, blue cheese or smoked Kentish cheese.

The Lady Luck

With a jukebox featuring punk, metal and rock music, frequent live music events and an extensive drinks menu, it’s not just the bar that’s rock and roll, burgers at The Lady Luck on St Peters Street are equally as rebellious. With inventions such as a chicken burger with homemade honey rum BBQ sauce, roasted red peppers and beer battered onion rings; a homemade beef chilli burger with jalapenos and extra hot sauce, you can sip on a cocktail or real ale with music flowing in the background. Vegetarians will be happy too with burgers such as the BBQ pulled jackfruit. All burgers come with chips and salad.
