1. Boo Koo’s, Helston

Boo Koo’s is one of the most well-known eateries in Helston, famed for its whimsical décor, entertaining street signs and reputable burger menu. Make sure to arrive on an empty stomach as the portions are extremely generous, and the burgers, fries and the popular milkshakes are a must-try before you leave. Our top tip for ultimate feasting: make sure you unbutton your jeans before you begin!

Burger sizes start at 3oz for children and go all the way up to 18oz if you’re up for a ‘man vs food’ style challenge. We recommend booking in advance as the popularity of the restaurant means tables get booked up very quickly.

2. Hub, St Ives

Expect cool, laidback vibes when visiting the Hub in St Ives. Whether you’re looking to start your evening with a delicious burger, or cure your hangover from the night before, this is the perfect spot for indulging in delicious beef patties whilst soaking the beautiful sea views of St Ives harbour.

The burgers here are made from 21 day dry-aged beef and served on Baker Tom buns. We like the ‘Dirty South’ with Cornish blue cheese, onions and mushrooms, served with a side of pulled pork fries and washed down with a caramel malt milkshake or a Hub cocktail. You’ll also find the Hub’s sister restaurant, Hubbox, in Truro and St Austell.

3. The Meat Counter, Falmouth

It might look small from the outside, but inside, The Meat Counter serves some of the biggest and juiciest burgers in Cornwall. There’s the option of enjoying burgers in the casual diner or to takeaway and treat yourself at home.

On the burger menu, you’ll find an eclectic variation of creative burgers, ranging from the ‘Piggystardust’ for the bacon lover, or the MILF burger (if you fancy a bit of everything). Even the vegan chickpea burger is enticing vegetarians and meat-eaters alike. Lookout for the mates rates offer on Mondays, when you can fill up on two classic burgers with a friend for just £12.

4. Blas Burgerworks, St Ives

Most Read

Tucked away in the backstreets of St Ives, Blas Burgerworks is one of the town’s best kept secrets. It is a great place to refuel on burgers after a day spent paddling in the sea at Porthminster beach.

All of the ingredients are local; from the burgers and buns down to the dips and chips. Expect succulent 6oz patties with a range of toppings. We’ve had the truffle burger with Cornish blue cheese and truffle aioli and we can confirm it was delicious. Don’t forget to leave room for pudding as the banana split with clotted cream and salted caramel is the perfect way to finish your feast.

5. Craftworks Street Kitchen, Truro and Padstow

What once started as a humble shipping container in Truro, Craftworks Street Kitchen has been bringing the street food vibe to Cornwall since 2014 and now serve some of the best burgers in the county. The buns are from Baker Toms and the burgers are from Roche Burgers – even the craft beers are from Cornish suppliers.

Burgers can be enjoyed inside the restaurant, or if you’re visiting the Truro branch, out in the garden overlooking the cathedral. A range of tempting burgers are on the menu, think American diner-inspired dishes, deep fried with loads of toppings. The diet can start on Monday.

6. The Balcony Bar, St Ives

The Hub is in good company along St Ives harbour as The Balcony Bar serves up a pretty mean burger too. It’s a laidback café in the day with an outgoing social scene by night and burgers are served throughout.

On the menu is a range of juicy burgers to choose from; whether your preference is beef, chicken, fish or vegetarian, there is plenty to sate all appetites. We like the sound of The Mexican Burger, topped with cheddar, nachos and sour cream, served with a side of spicy fries and onion rings. ¡Buen provecho!

7. Sonder, Truro

Sonder is an independently run café-cum-restaurant-cum-bar (phew!), with an extensive burger menu. Whether you’re after bacon double cheese, spicy chicken, pulled pork or Mexican bean, there’s plenty to tempt even the strictest dieter. We’ll leave the difficulty of choosing what to have up to you.

Worth mentioning is the extensive beer and cider menu that features a range of craft beers from all over the world. Keep an eye out for the Sonder beer club, where there are plenty of real ales and lagers to wash your burger down.

8. Little Red Rooster, Falmouth

Step into the Little Red Rooster on Bar Road and you’ll feel like you’ve stepped into a proper American diner on Route 66. Expect leather red booths, vintage artwork on the walls and milkshakes galore.

This family-run diner is one of Falmouth’s best kept secrets. There are six tempting burgers to choose from, two of which are vegetarian. We like the sound of the ‘Going down slow’ burger with pulled pork, sticky BBQ sauce and pickled onions. But we like the sound of the Baileys and vanilla ‘hardshake’ milkshake even more!

9. Burgers & Fish, Padstow

We all know Padstow is renowned for its delicious seafood but did you know you can also get some amazing burgers here too? Take a short stroll from the fishing boats in the harbour and Burgers & Fish restaurant can be found tucked away on The Strand.

Fill your boots with gourmet burgers and fries. The B&F’s signature patty, ‘The Wholey Cow’, consists of meatloaf, oxtail and beer, soft cheese and ox tongue schnitzel. Just make sure you order yours quickly as there are a limited number available each day.

10. Mumma Bear’s, Bude

Every evening, Mumma Bear’s open its doors to hungry patrons on the hunt for gourmet burgers. Available between 6 and 9pm, diners can take advantage of the ‘Build your own’ burger menu. A combination of buns, burgers, sauces, toppings and sides are available to choose from. Best of all, you get to name your creation at the end!

If you don’t fancy exploring your creative side, Mumma Bear’s also has a range of heavenly burgers on the menu. The ‘3 Little Pigs’ with bacon, pork burger and pulled pork sounds ideal for meat-lovers whilst the ‘Flamin Rooster’ chicken burger with jalapeños, red peppers and chilli mayo is not for the faint-hearted.
