“I am thrilled to have been chosen as a finalist for this prestigious award,” says Douglas. “I have always had an obsession with food and to be recognised for something I am so passionate about is fantastic. I get such a buzz from constantly improving and developing new ideas using only the very best produce available, some of which is grown solely for our use in The Tudor Room. We now hold the only Michelin star in Surrey and so to win Chef of the Year would be the icing on the cake! Thanks to everyone who voted.”

“I’m ecstatic to be back at the Surrey Life Food & Drink Awards, having won the Best Local Menu category and been a finalist in Chef of the Year back in 2015,” says Daniel. “It was always an ambition to get back in, especially in the chef category, so I want to say a huge thank you to everyone who has voted for me and given me the chance to show what I can do to the judges. To be one of three finalists in such a strong Chef of the Year line-up is a real privilege, and I can’t wait to join everyone at for awards night. May the best man win!”

“To be shortlisted for Surrey chef of the year is such a humbling experience,” says Matt. “Since arriving in Surrey I’ve been exposed to incredible hospitality from local chefs, suppliers and the media. The food scene in Surrey is rife with incredibly talented and passionate individuals with a great passion for the area and its producers. With institutions such as the Surrey Life Food and Drink Awards recognising the efforts of artisans, cooks and producers, I can only envisage the standard of hospitality rising and I’m privileged to be a part of it.”
