In recognition of its high quality meat - the vast majority of which is sourced from Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire - Owen Taylor & Sons received five gold awards at the Smithfield Awards dinner, held by The Q Guild in London on 20th November 2013.

Lee Gould, Food Safety Manager at Owen Taylor & Sons, attended the event on behalf of the family-run business. Gold awards were given to the butcher’s Breakfast Mushroom, Country Special Sausage, Peppered Steak Burger, Haslet and Bacon Steaks. The breakfast mushroom - pictured - combines a superb combination of mushroom, black pudding, sausage, bacon and tomato in a convenient single bake product.

In other awards news, Managing Director Richard Taylor attended the English Winter Fair at Bingley Hall on Sunday 17th November. Owen Taylor & Sons won 4 gold awards for its Stilton Pork Pie, Huntsman Pie, Home Cured Smoked Streaky Bacon and Home Cured R/less Gammon Steak. The Home Cured Smoked Streaky Bacon also won best in class. Owen Taylor & Sons supplies both retail and catering customers across the East Midlands, and following the event Richard purchased the champion beef carcass and a prize-winning steer to complement the mainstay high quality beef already available at the butchers.
