Staging the region’s keynote event simply isn’t feasible amid the uncertainty of the coronavirus restrictions

It is with enormous regret that we have decided to postpone the Cotswold Life Food & Drink Awards for this year. The simple truth is that when it comes to the safety of our guests, our hosts at The Centaur and our staff we are unwilling to take any chances amid the uncertainty of the coronavirus pandemic.

We were hoping to stage this keynote event in October, moving it from the original July date, but when you sit down to start planning it quickly becomes clear that getting 500 people together in one huge air-conditioned venue is fraught with difficulty. We don’t know how many tables we might have; we don’t know how many people might sit at those tables. And is there really an appetite for celebration in the wake of the havoc that has hit the hospitality industry?

We will therefore postpone the event until next year when we hope to bounce back, bigger and better than ever, to celebrate the hard work and innovation that serves this region so well. Thank you to everyone who went to the trouble of nominating a contender and thank you to our understanding and supportive sponsors and suppliers.

As someone rather special almost said recently: “We’ll eat again”…
