If you’re all ready to eat some barbeque food this summer, but don’t want the hassle of organising your own, there are plenty of American style eateries in the region you could try, here’s a few that we found

Henry’s Bar and Grill, Lytham A large range of grill items of the menu that includes starters of sticky back ribs and devilled spiced chicken wings. The main menu includes sharing steaks and surf and turf options, as well as the 10oz Henry Burger which has an extra topping of cured bacon and Lancashire cheese available. www.henrysbarandgrill.co.uk 5 Henry Street, Lytham, FY8 5LE   01253 737111

The Ferret, Preston The Ferret is mainly known as a live music venue in the student area of Preston but the menu has a decidely American feel to it. There is a decent selection of burgers, smoked dogs and wings with three degrees of hotness. They also cater for the vegetarian diner with burgers made with beetroot and five beans and a halloumi and mushroom version. theferret.info 55 Fylde Road, Preston Lancashire, PR1 2XQ   01772 200017

Plantation Bar & Grill, Wigan Plantation emulates an American college bar, throwing frat parties on Thursdays (Red cups and all!) and serving a selection of quick bites including hot dogs, burgers and ribs. The ‘Bad Boy Dog’ loaded with Caramelised Onions, BBQ pulled pork & coleslaw is the largest of their selection of hot dogs. plantationbarandgrill.co.uk 35 Wigan Road, Ashton-in-Makerfield, Wigan WN4 9AR   01942 711519

Oscar's Bistro, Lancaster Although Biltmore Bar and Grill is inspired by New York’s metropolitan style diners, there is a Tex-Mex feel to this menu with nachos and fajitas on the menu along with BBQ spare ribs and a selection of burgers. www.biltmoreandoscars.co.uk 9 George Street, Lancaster, Lancashire, LA1 1XQ   01524 845563

Farmers Arms, Burscough For those of you who like a challenge and love their meat then perhaps the Haystack Burger challenge is for you. It's  a 40 oz burger pattie, 6 rashers of smoked bacon, eight onion rings, melted cheese, a baby gem lettuce, tomato, gherkins, all served with 2lb of fries, a large pot of coleslaw and a vanilla milkshake that must be eaten in 40 minutes. For the more discnerning among you, they also have a burger night every Minday, with more realistic sized portions. www.farmersarmsburscough.co.uk 36 New Lane, Burscough, Ormskirk, L40 8JA  01704 896021

All Star Lanes, Deansgate Bowling alleys have a reputation for sticky carpets and bad hotdogs and poor décor. All Star Lanes have padded out their Manchester location in homage to the archetypal 50’s bowling alley with the obligitory dining booths and the menu is filled with all things Americana. . We recommend the ‘King Pin Burger’ with ‘Cured Treacle Bacon’ and of course bowling! www.allstarlanes.co.uk/venues/manchester-deansgate The Great Northern, 235 Deansgate, Manchester, M3 4EN   0161 8273600

Southern 11, Spinningfields While its sister restaurant Neighbourhood is based on the New York style eateries, Southern 11 is very much a southern style barbeque restaurant. In fact it derives its name from the 11 southern US states which inspire much of the menu. www.southern11.co.uk 3 Hardman Street, Spinningfields, Manchester M3 3EB   0161 8320482

Rookwood Bar & ‘Cue Rookwood Bar prides itself on serving locally sourced meat from North West family butchers, ‘Albert Matthews’.
