From wine to cheese via watercress, beef and even ice cream, Surrey has some amazing and often overlooked producers working away in fields, farms and garden sheds, we present our finalists for the Food and Drink Producer Award 2017

“Our gourmet freezer meals use family recipes, local produce and lots of love,” says owner Mandira Sarkar. “Containing no preservatives, gluten or unpronounceable bits, these meals were introduced in November 2016, and are now stocked in 12 fantastic Farm Shops across Surrey. We’ve just won a star at the Great Taste Awards 2017 and now being shortlisted in these awards is very exciting. We were runners-up in the innovation category with our catering in both 2016 and 2016, so we feel very privileged to be here again.”

“It was with great pleasure that we received the news of our first nomination for the Surrey Life Food & Drink Awards,” say owners Neil and Michaela Allam. “We have been making our cheese since 2001, slowly building up a loyal and strong customer base. It’s this loyal base – whether pubs, restaurants, shops or the public – that has helped to put us in the position we now find ourselves in now. When we are out and about around the county at markets and tastings, we like to think that our boundless enthusiasm inspires people to try our product.”

“We are once again delighted to have made the final,” says marketing manager, Lucy Letley. “We are so passionate about growing vines organically here in the beautiful Surrey Hills, and of course producing top quality wines. We work really hard to provide a welcoming and informative visitor experience at the vineyard, and everyone is welcome regardless of how much or little they know about wine. Thank you to Surrey Life readers for voting us into the final, and we are proud to be up against some other great local producers.”
