Q: How can I ensure the meat I order online is good quality?

A: You need to find online butchers who source meat that has been produced using regenerative, high welfare farming practices. Basically, not factory farmed. Online food shopping has really taken off in the last five years and there are now more people buying their meat online who have found it not only very convenient but a great way to improve on quality and choice.

Q: What is grass-fed meat?

Grass-fed meat, high in Omega 3, is from animals that themselves have only eaten a natural diet of grass, wildflowers and clovers, rich in essential vitamins and minerals and untainted by chemicals and pesticides and makes a whole lot of sense. It’s a healthy choice to make.

Perversely, at The Dorset Meat Company, we would advocate eating less meat, but when we do, we need to ensure it’s of the highest quality and is produced in a way that respects nature, the environment and the animal.

Q: Where does your meat come from and how is it prepared?

At The Dorset Meat Company, we do just that, we work exclusively with small, Dorset and Wiltshire family-run farms that farm in a traditional way that is better for the animals, the local ecology, and us as consumers. Our meat is dry-aged and hand-prepared by award-winning butchers that enhances its incredible flavour and character.

A: We offer an extensive range of grass-fed beef and lamb, outdoor reared pork, free-range chicken, wild game and charcuterie that can be ordered with all your own choices, or as one of our set seasonal boxes.

Q: Do you sell anything to complement your meat offering?

A: Yes, we sell a wide range of locally-sourced cheeses and artisan deli products that are not readily available in supermarkets. This includes a wide range of exceptional West Country cheeses, local, award-winning charcuterie as well as a range of fantastic olive oils, pestos and pastes, and sauces and condiments.
