A glamorous occasion demands a stunning backdrop and for that reason the breathtaking country House Hotel Nunsmere Hall is the perfect venue for the 2019 Cheshire Life Food and Drink Awards on July 15th.

The family-run hotel nestles in the magical Delamere forest and matches its historic charms with timeless elegance seamlessly. It was built in around 1901 by Sir Aubrey Brocklebank, chairman of The Brocklebank Line, and his wife Lady Grace Brocklebank and for many years was a private residence, hosting glittering parties and gracious living for the elite of Edwardian society.

After Brocklebank's shipping business merged with the famous Cunard Company, Sir Aubrey focused on designing the landmark Atlantic liner, Queen Mary, and it is said that the beautiful lake that wraps itself around the hall was his design inspiration.

On the glittering night of the Cheshire Life Food and Drink Awards, guests will be able to immerse themselves in this wonderfully picturesque setting and of course enjoy the exceptional menu that will be devised by chef Mark Burke, who will be assisted by his talented brigade of chefs and front of house team.

Mark, who joined Nunsmere last July, previously worked for 11 years for Macdonald Hotels, cooking and mentoring young chefs at their flagship Manchester hotel before working at Hill Valley, Shropshire; Craxton Wood, Chester; The Lymm Hotel and the Portal at Tarporley. 'I'm very excited to be involved in the Cheshire Life Food and Drink Awards this year,' says Mark. 'It;s a great opportunity to show people what Nunsmere is all about. Not only how charming it is but also how good our food is.

'I love working in this old building. It has such charm and I like the way the modern food in our restaurant compliments this.' Mark is already working on the menu that will be wowing guests and his peers in the hospitality industry but nothing will be revealed until the big night.

Around six chefs will be put through their paces to create a magnificent meal for the occasion and Mark is confident they will be able to overcome all the challenges they face when catering for a large number of people.

'I have just recruited a new team at Nunsmere,' he said. 'These are chefs I have worked with at other establishments and they are a very loyal and talented team.'

Lisa Robinson, the General Manager at Nunsmere Hall Hotel, said: 'We're very excited to be hosting Cheshire Life's prestigious Food and Drink awards at Nunsmere Hall Hotel on Monday 15th July 2019.
