- Cafe Gelato

There's never a bad time for gelato, and Valentine's Day is no exception. Fancy seeking out some new and original flavours of gelato? Try a scoop of almond and orange, 'kibana' (kiwi and banana), prosecco and strawberry, pear or blood orange sorbet. These can be found along with the usual neopolitan classics at family run Cafe Gelato in Norwich. With the ever-changing range of flavours and experimental delicacies on offer (hot cross bun gelato anyone?), this is a sweet spot to take your beau. Great coffee too!

- Dotti Chocolates

Situated in the Norwich Lanes, Dotti Chocolates, sister shop to Bread Source (the two shops being owned by husband and wife team Hannah and Steven Winter), offers an array of beautifully decorated chocolates. With tantalising flavours, such as Norfolk gin and lemon, Norfolk honey with whisky, and exotic tastes including passionfruit or aperol spritz and a tempting hazelnut truffle. There are even dark chocolate truffles for vegans. The chocolates, after meticulous experimentation, are crafted 'bean to bar' with Fairtrade chocolate from Belgium and Colombia, and processed locally at Bread Source.

- Bellyboos

Want an experience for the whole family, or your own inner child? The uniquely named Bellyboos would be an excellent choice. Located in Gorleston-on-Sea, this dessert place will blow you away with its massive milkshakes and ice cream stacked waffles. Originally a family run sweet shop, the business started selling ice cream in 2014 and are now well known for their generous sweet offerings. Selling over 20 flavours of ice cream as well as sorbets and free from ice creams for dietary requirements. Bellyboos is a fun, Instagram -worthy place to get your sweet fix.

- Figbar

Run by husband and wife team Stephanie and Jaime Garbutt, Figbar is the place to go for all the dessert lovers out there. With pies, s'mores, cheesecakes, muffins and sumptuous slices of cake, the sweet treat restaurant offers a modern and eclectic collection of tasty foods for you to try. It is a small place so it can fill up quickly but the aromatic sugary scent that flows out of the cafe is more than enough to entice anyone in.

- Afternoon teas

Afternoon teas are as popular as ever and Norfolk has plenty of options to choose from. There's Norwich's Assembly House which hosts the classic afternoon tea experience with scones, finger sandwiches and delightful mini cakes, all whilst seated within the beautiful historic Georgian hall. If you're looking for more of a cosy feel, Biddy's Tea Room is a great choice. With venues in Aylsham and Norwich, Biddy's offers a "quirky but relaxed" atmosphere and very delicious cakes baked in-house.

Said to be "sprinkled with romance", the Folly Tearoom in Holt offers the ultimate beautiful escape for you and your partner to enjoy an afternoon tea in tranquility. The tearoom is a beautiful and vintage setting for your tea time. Finally, Heydon Village Tea Shop is a bucolic offering, which looks out on the village which is full of pretty cottages and gorgeous countryside beyond. The tea shop itself is a charmingly quaint spot with local and handmade food to enjoy. A beautiful getaway for your sweet Valentine experience.

- Pungleperry's

If after a romantic leisurely stroll on Sheringham beach with your loved one you fancy a tasty treat, head to Pungleperry's for an array of sundaes, pancakes and ice creams. They even offer scones, toasties and pasties, all for very affordable prices. Perfect if you're bringing the family. Plus the ice cream flavours change regularly so there's always an excuse to go back. Jaffa cake ice cream sundae anyone?

- Tofurei

For those who eat plant based, or are curious Tofurei is a great cafe for vegan and gluten free needs. Located in the Norwich Lanes, these "soy alchemists" are producing amazing food, and constantly expanding their range on offer that many keep going back for. They make cakes to order or you can sit in and have a slice of after eight cheesecake, or a gooey chocolate chip hazelnut cookie. Tofurei even partnered with Ronaldson's to produce their own soy based Whippy ice creams! Come here for a relaxed and delicious plant based taste sensation.

- Artemis Coffee Shop

If you like a spectacular view with your cake, Artemis Coffee Shop is the perfect place for you and your partner to enjoy the Norfolk landscape. The cafe boasts an outdoor terrace overlooking the marshes taking you closer to nature, whilst enjoying a slice of lime and courgette cake or a homemade scone. The shop even allows dogs, so this a perfect stop for those countryside dog walks. Don't forget to visit the boat barn which has plenty of antiques and homeware to browse and perhaps find an extra treat to spoil your loved one.
