After a 3 year sabbatical, the legendary Spillers Cooking Experience returned to Spillers on October 6th. More than 600 visitors came to watch no fewer than 15 chefs (including TV’s Mike Robinson and River Cottage Chef Robin Rea) cooking up a storm on the worlds best loved appliances. Manufacturers joining in the fun included Aga, Miele, Siemens, Lacanche, Rangemaster, Neff, Wolf, Falcon, Rayburn, De Dietrich, Mercury and AEG. As a bonus, one lucky visitor even became the proud owner of a 3000 Aga Masterchef Range Cooker, given away in a free prize draw.

With 12 thousand square feet of real ‘working’ kitchens to see, the showroom at Spillers is always a great place to visit - but with so many wonderful smells drifting from room to room, it’s easy to see why this was hailed a ‘must see’ event.

It wasn’t all about cooking however. Many other companies took part such as Mercedes-Benz, Jacuzzi Hot Tubs, Mandarin Stone, Norcotts Cider, Barrington Pottery, Wishing Well Cupcakes, Forest Foods, Leakers Bakery, Sue’s Flowers, Julie Monk Gifts and many more. A highlight for many was undoubtedly the 180,000 SLS Mercedes Supercar - a fine sight in the glorious autumnal sunshine.

Spillers Sales Director Robin Durie said of the day, “An event like the Ultimate Cooking Experience is the perfect introduction to Spillers and a great way to experience all the products we deal with. It takes plenty of organising, but watching all the manufacturers cooking like crazy in front of so many smiling faces - that’s what makes everything worthwhile. I can’t wait until the next one”.

Spillers would like to thank all the businesses and visitors for helping to create their biggest and best Open Day yet.
