Indian restaurant Viceroy, on

Earle Street, Yeovil, has been listed in

the British Curry Awards for

the fifth time in a row.

INDIAN and Italian food available

in Yeovil is among the best

in the country, according to restaurant

judges.

Indian restaurant Viceroy, on

Earle Street, has been listed in

the British Curry Awards for

the fifth time in a row, while

Italian eatery Tamburino in

South Western Terrace has won

a platinum award from the

Pizza, Pasta and Italian Food

Association.

Both restaurants were in the

awards after being nominated

by customers. Inspectors then

made under-cover visits to test

the food and service. Tamburino

was awarded for being

among the best independent

pizza restaurants in Britain.

Restaurant owner Dominico

Taravella said: “We are really

proud of the fact that the restaurant

was at the awards. We

were up against some big city

restaurants, lots of them in London

and Glasgow. We have put

Yeovil on the map in a small

way.”

The award given to familyrun

Viceroy places it as one of

the top 10 best curry houses in

the South West and in the top

100 nationally. It has won an

award every year since the British

Curry Awards were founded

five years ago.

Staff from the restaurant

along with family and friends

attended the national awards

ceremony at Battersea Park

Evolution Centre, London, last

month. The event was hosted by

broadcaster Trevor McDonald

and attended by Tory leader

David Cameron, whose favourite

curry is chicken balti.

Viceroy opened in Yeovil in

1994 and now has six restaurants

with the latest recently

opened in Dunkeswell in Devon.
