The sun was shining, the street performers singing and the shoppers out in force on Old Bond Street, Bath, for the first ever Somerset Life event to find the Best Cake in Somerset. The competition was tough, but luckily the people of Bath were on hand to help pick a winner.

Passing members of the public – whether they were on their lunch break, enjoying the school holidays or on a day out in the spa city of Bath – all took on the gruelling task of tasting each cake and voting for their favourite. The cakes were submitted by bakeries across the Somerset Life distribution area to ensure we captured our reader’s favourite bakers. It was a close competition. All of the cakes had a great reaction from the public and gathered high numbers of votes – a testament to the skill of our local Somerset bakeries. But there could be only one winner and we are pleased to announce that The Best Cake in Somerset is the Chocolate Bad Boy Cake by The Bristol Bakehouse.
