Charlie Bigham’s is collaborating with the Wells Food Festival to hold the country’s largest online festival and market, with a virtual cook-along supper club, hosted by top chefs, at the heart of its food programme.

It’s good news from Wells Food Festival.Although the physical event has been postponed until 2021, a virtual festival is taking place over the weekend of 10 and 11 October.

The organisers, working with headline sponsor Charlie Bigham’s, are promising a packed festival programme. Mirroring the regular event’s popular Artisan Market, the 48-hour online foodie extravaganza will showcase more than 150 local artisan producers. Visitors from as far afield as Scotland will have an opportunity to buy produce direct from the makers.

“We want 2020 to be remembered as the year that Wells Food Festival went above and beyond to champion our region’s amazing food,” says Jon Abbott, festival director.

There will be live streamed masterclasses and guest appearances by well-known West Country food stars. At home, festival goers can sign up to a flower arranging workshop with Georgie Newby from Common Farm Flowers, a live drawing workshop with renowned illustrator Emily Sutton and some ‘no dig’ gardening hints and tips from Charles Dowding. There will be a ‘behind-the-scenes’ glimpse of some featured artisan producers and live-streamed music by blues band Harlem Rhythm Cats.
