The Chef of the Year is someone who has devoted him or herself to the cause of serving the best possible food
Chef of the Year
Richard Craven, The Chef’s Dozen, Chipping Campden
Previously the Sous Chef at The Tasting Room in South Africa – the restaurant voted the Best in Africa and the Middle East – Chipping Camden-born Richard Craven joined The Chefs Dozen in 2011. His menus are designed around the organic ingredients they showcase, which as you would expect are locally sourced and seasonal – so much so that the game is sometimes reportedly is often ‘shot to order’ by local gamekeeper friends from the surrounding hills and estates. Expect to find inspired dishes such as the critics favourite, rabbit raviolo with fermented turnip and rabbit consommé.
Judges praised the menu of Richard Craven for being focused on seasonal and local produce and commended Richard for the clear enthusiasm he has to delivering top quality food. Judges described the food as fantastic and presented very well.
Highly Commended – Gareth Fulford, Purslane, Cheltenham
Highly Commended – Marcus Ashenford, 5 North Street, Winchcombe
