The battle lines are drawn and it will be a war at this year's RHS Show Tatton Park! A floral depiction of Liverpool's historic Albert Docks will go head-to-head with other north west landmarks. Hugo Bugg, from Cornwall, will recreate some of the city's oldest buildings at the dock - the UK's largest collection of Grade I listed buildings. This will include the world's first non-combustible warehouse that is built from cast iron, brick and granite. The garden will also be built using the same materials used during the building's construction in 1841.

One of his competitors, 25-year-old Olivia Stewart, will recreate the topography and geography of the Lake District and William Quarmby, 27, will create a show garden based on the ecology of the West Pennine Moors. Their work will then be judged for the national Young Designer of the Year competition, taking place at the Tatton Show. The winner gets the opportunity to work with a world-class garden designer to create the Laurent-Perrier garden at next year's RHS Chelsea Flower Show.

Kris Hulewicz, show manager, said: 'This is the highlight. It is a national competition and applications came in from all corners of the UK. 'The fact they are all under 28-years-old is phenomenal. All three of them have shown quality in their designs and have really embraced the competition. The opportunity it gives them is incredible. We are really looking forward to Young Designer of the Year and are really proud of it. It will put Tatton on the map.'

RHS Show Tatton Park takes place from July 21st - 25th. Every year the event attracts thousands of people. Organisers said they hope to welcome between 95,000 and 100,000 people through the gates of the historic Cheshire estate.

Another highlight is an appearance by horticultural artist, Tony Heywood. He is at the forefront of the UK's conceptual garden scene and will create replica ‘worlds’ inside self-contained steel chambers. This will include his favourite landscapes, Formby Beach, Tintagel in Cornwall and Dorset's Jurassic Coast. It will be the first time he has exhibited at an RHS show. Accompanying Tony's installation is the Visionary Gardens category. Six exhibitors will create gardens using futuristic design ideas and sustainable gardening methods.

Kris, who has been show manager for six years, said: 'Every year we are stunned by the creativity that is embedded into the garden design but I think Tony's installation will become a real centrepiece of this year's event.'

Talented florists from across Europe will also compete in Eurofleurs 2010. The competition brings together different nations as well as raising the profile of up and coming floristry talent.

Britain's entrant is Liverpool's Joe Massie, who has already won five national competitions including RHS Chelsea Young Florist of the Year. All of the entrants will be set five tasks around the concept of art at Tatton Park.

'Eurofleurs 2010 will be one of the big showpieces,' explained Kris. 'It is the world cup of floristry and the standard is always thrilling. It is wonderful that visitors will get the opportunity to experience it first hand and soak up the atmosphere of excitement and friendly rivalry.'

There will be more than 40 show gardens to visit, plenty of places to pick up tips and advice from experts as well as marquees full of beautiful blooms and delicious fruit and vegetables. There will be back-to-back gardens created by local organisations, including the Girl Guiding Cheshire Border group. Also, the British Florist Association marquee will take on a musical theme where people will be adorned with floral costumes as they perform songs from the West End.

Kris, said: 'This is a gardening extravaganza with something for everybody. Visitors can have a memorable day here.'

Cheshire Life and The Christie at Tatton

Visit Cheshire Life at The Christie garden. The leading cancer hospital, which takes part in the show every year, has themed this year's garden on 'embracing tranquillity' to represent The Christie's ethos. It is sponsored by William Hare Limited.

It will be the first outing on the RHS circuit for Elizabeth Daley, who has designed the garden. She took influences and inspiration from a Carthusian monastic garden for her designs and all of the plants she will be using also have medical or therapeutic qualities.

The Christie in Manchester is one of Europe's leading cancer hospitals, treating 40,000 patients a year and is renowned for its research worldwide.
