A long awaited bespoke country kitchen delights the whole family

Situated on the leafy borders of Hampshire and Surrey is Church Crookham, where for 27 years our client created culinary wonders from one cooker and just two fitted cabinets.
Three children, numerous dogs and endless large family gatherings meant the cramped kitchen was by no means ideal when cooking the family favorite of roast beef on a Sunday. How she managed for all this time was a marvel to us all.
When the idea of having an extension was rumored, top of the list was a dream country kitchen with enough space for anything that the social calendar threw at them. The kitchen was to be an elegant backdrop to the new space rather than a grand statement. Something our client could put her own accents to. Practicality was essential, but most of all it needed to capture the traditional style of an in-frame kitchen where our clients existing Lacanche range cooker would be best suited.
Drawing on our extensive portfolio, and with our guidance, our client settled on a 1909 kitchen, which features solid Alderwood timber doors, traditional butt hinges with complimenting dovetailed wooden draw boxes.
Colour matching Partridge Grey and Morris Blue doors along with made to measure design options, turned the new room into a beautiful space. A bespoke Island unit gives extra preparation area with enough space underneath to make sure the family’s Norfolk Terrier and Dalmatian have a comfy place to snuggle down. Our client’s husband has crafted two wonderfully unique bar stools made from antique tractor seats, introducing a rustic accent to a luxury setting.
The larder unit contains a lit butler’s pantry for dry food storage, a full height Liebherr fridge, and a full height Liebherr freezer with an internal ice maker, ensuring the parties are always “cool”.
The worktops are clad in Corian Silver Birch, to enhance the luxury feel to the kitchen, whereas a solid oak top lies on the island, capturing a traditional country feel to the kitchen.

The creation of a faux chimney was essential to emulate the traditional feel, which houses the powerful Gutmann canopy extractor. This German built extractor is needed to remove odours, grease and moisture created during cooking, and to ensure the longevity of the kitchen units. We designed useful backlit nooks within the chimney breast uprights for salt and pepper mills, keeping them to hand whilst cooking. Upon the chimney is an oak shelf with Morris Blue corbels, where our client displays some of her eclectic mix of silver and ceramic pots, plates and candlesticks.
When asked, our client couldn’t choose a favourite part of her kitchen as it is a culmination of things. The way the large Georgian window throws light to show the profile of the doors, the way the fridge and pantry unit looks more like a stand-alone piece of furniture rather than fitted kitchen units and the way everything blends together so beautifully.
