Have you got a much-loved piece of furniture that has seen better days? Maybe that chair just doesn’t match your current interior design?

Penrose Interiors can save you money on new furniture by revamping your current pieces. They can give a sentimental piece a new lease of life with new upholstery or update an old sofa with a funky fabric to give your living room a burst of colour.

Penrose Interiors is an independent design practice in Derbyshire, specialising in luxury home styling as well as handmade curtains, blinds and upholstery. Owner, Alex Sheldon, took us on a tour of the Penrose Interiors showroom and explained how they can help you totally transform the rooms in your home.

Alex told us: "Working with an enormous collection of designer upholstery fabrics means we can tailor re-upholstery to suit a design scheme, whether it's modern and minimalist, or vintage and rustic. We strip the existing material, add new padding and then cover your furniture with a new fabric of your choice.

"We can always change the button and piping section, to make it that little more special and give it extra attention to detail. Re-upholstery is certainly worthwhile if you are happy with the sit and comfort of your existing furniture and are just looking to bring it more up to date. However, we can also specify new pieces of upholstery should you wish to view our collection."

It's not just furniture that Penrose Interiors can help you with. Alex said: "We have a fabric, wallpaper and trimming room on site which is available by appointment, as well as three showrooms demonstrating the finest handmade curtains, blinds, upholstery, cabinet furniture and home accessories."

Penrose Interiors Design Service

Penrose Interiors provide an interior design service that offers everything from guidance with fabrics, wallpapers, paint colours, furniture and accessories to handmade curtains, blinds and specialised window treatments. Alex told us: "We always take lifestyle, preferences and budget into consideration."

The design service has two levels depending on your requirements. The preview service consists of a 30 minute consultation in their showroom which is free of charge. Alex explained: "The consultation is a fantastic opportunity for us to gain an understanding of what you're trying to achieve in terms of how you would like your room to look and the colour scheme you have in mind. We can then show you fabrics and wallpapers which we feel will help you create the desired effect."

You can opt for the tailored service if you'd like a designer from Penrose Interiors to come to your home to see your room. Alex told us: "Measurements and photos will be taken and one of our designers will then put together a number of schemes which they feel would complement your home. This may include new fabrics/wallpapers, new poles, new cabinet furniture, new lighting and upholstery fabrics."
