Mrs Stone Store was set up by local business woman, Libby Lloyd-Jones and today the company includes six family members: Libby’s husband, cousin, brother, son and daughter. Many of the 14-strong team had previously worked with natural stone, sourcing and supplying material to trade customers; they were keen to replicate the service, so that home-owners could benefit from the same innovative approach. This experience, combined with the close-knit nature of the company, built foundations of trust, understanding and an absolute willingness to go the ‘extra mile.’ Along with its commitment to its customers, Mrs Stone Store is a business with strong community and family values. and, just last year, gained recognition in the Midlands Family Business Awards, where it was nominated as a finalist.
So, what type of products does Mrs Stone Store offer? The range includes numerous natural surfaces to suit all tastes, lifestyles and budgets – from intricate, designer mosaics to large format tiles and paving slabs, in a wide range of colours and finishes. Stone can also be supplied in made-to-measure sizes and finishes to suit your individual requirements. Complementary fitting materials, including adhesives, grout and sealers are also available from ‘the Store’.
Sometimes you need a little help in choosing the right tile – after all, natural stone can last a lifetime! So, the comprehensive website also offers a wealth of practical advice and inspirational photography, as well as quotes based on individual room sizes, a personal ‘scrapbook’ tool, ‘how to’ area and free samples.
Lots of new tiles have joined the range for Autumn 2014, including Mrs Stone Store’s new Jura Beige - a European Limestone with a honed surface finish and a mottled, non-uniform appearance. Distinct quartz veining and a kaleidoscope of dark, contrasting fossils give the stone a very stylish look. Three different sizes are available and the tiles can be installed indoors and outside, creating a stunning natural surface that’s really easy to look after – and ideal for installation over underfloor heating.
Other new additions to the range include Mrs Stone Store’s slate hearths, which were recently awarded a finalist position in the 2014 Hearth & Home Awards ‘Fireplace Mantel/Surround in Stone’ category. Available in 14 sizes - in Black Natural Riven Slate and Grey Natural Riven Slate – the ‘pocket-friendly’ hearths are heat and slip resistant, durable and really easy to look after too.
Mrs Stone Store’s online retail experience is enjoyable and secure, whilst the local showroom – based at Hilton Business Park - provides further inspiration and resources, to help you choose the perfect natural surface. The office and showroom is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm, and on Saturday mornings from 9am to 12 noon. Large stocks and direct quarry supply enables Mrs Stone Store to deliver the next day or on a standard three-day delivery. Tiles can also be collected from the Hilton warehouse, which is open from 9am to 4pm, Monday to Friday.
