Autumn colour

By November, autumn colour across fields, meadows and woods is at its peak. At Hinton Ampner, you can gaze out over ancient parkland littered with yellow and gold foliage from gnarled veteran oaks and beeches, interspersed with the deep red hues of Norway maple. This month, admire the very best autumn colour Hinton has to offer on a seasonal two hour guided walk around the estate.

Adventures with Alice

Delve into the world of Lewis Carroll’s classic tale in this British Library exhibition. Explore the different ways generations of illustrators, artists, musicians, filmmakers and designers over the past 150 years have been inspired by the story of the girl who went ‘down the rabbit hole’. With a special tour by curator Andie Lloyd and a storytelling by “Alice” herself.

DIY Cosmetics

Learn how to make your own healthy and natural cosmetics at the Theatre Royal Winchester. Guaranteed to be a lot of fun and recommended for those over the age of 16, the session will begin with a brief explanation about the ingredients and essential oils used. Then you will participate in a hands-on workshop and create three products (hand cream, lip balm and stick with essential oils), all of which you can take home.

Gothic Drama

On the tree trail

Celebrate the tercentenary of Capability Brown at Sir Harold Hillier Gardens. Explore the only Tree Trail of its kind in these award winning Gardens and find examples of the exotic trees and shrubs Brown used in his own landscapes. Triple bill

Celebrating 35 years of creating bold and dynamic performance works, Phoenix Dance Theatre returns to The Point with Triple Bill. During this evening of stunning contemporary dance, enjoy Itzik Galili’s Until.With/Out.Enough, an emotional abstract journey filled with intimacy, athletic power and tension, Sharon Watson’s Melt where the elements collide in a breathtaking mix of aerial dance and the quirky and playful Bloom, by Caroline Finn, which explores the darkly comic expressions of life and humanity.

Art show

British Art Show 8 provides a vital overview of some of the most exciting contemporary art produced in the UK over the last five years. Featuring the work of 42 artists in a variety of mediums. With 26 of the artists creating new works especially for the exhibition.
