It’s always been seen as a smart suburb of Stockport, but now Heaton Moor is establishing itself as a place to visit in its own right.

Getting there

There is limted on-street parking available on Derby Range, so the public transport might be the best option when visiting Heaton Moor. The Heaton Chapel station has regular trains to and from local towns, including Crewe, Alderley Edge, Wilmslow, Cheadle Hulme and Stockport. The station is also served regularly by the Manchester Piccadilly to Buxton line, which will give you connections to destinations that are much further afield. There are also regular buses to Manchester and Stockport.

Shopping

Heaton Moor Road is the location for a diverse range of independent retailers that should give you an eventful few hours of shopping. There a number of fashion boutiques, as well as a couple of gift shops. Back’s Deli pride themselves on fresh, local produce and offer the ‘Back’s Experience’, which allows to draw on the expertise of their knowledgeable staff. Heaton Moor Producers’ Market takes place on Shaw Road and runs from March to December on the first Sunday of each month, 11:00 – 15:00.

Green Spaces

Heaton Moor Park dates back to 1894 and is now managed by a group of local residents whose aim is to maintain the park and protect its future heritage. The park itself has some gardens and flower arrangements to enjoy as well as a small woodland. The park also has tennis courts and bowling greens as well as a small children’s play area. www.heatonmoorpark.co.uk

Eating

Since opening in 2016, Brassica Grill has won a host of awards, including a Michelin Bib Gourmand. It describes itself as a Steakhouse and modern European restaurant and has certainly become a restaurant that people will travel to from further afield to try. The area around Shaw Road and Heaton Moor Road has a high density of restaurants with a great variety of cuisine and price ranges. You’re sure to find something to your taste here.

Catch a movie

The Savoy Cinema is almost 100 years old and reopened its doors in 2015 after a major refurbishment that saved the venue from permanent closure. The intimate setting is host to the latest film releases as well as some special screenings of independent features as well as classic and children’s films.
