Thornton Manor was the elegant setting for a glamorous ball organised by footballer John Barnes and his wife, Andrea. The black tie occasion at the Wirral venue was in aid of the Snowdrop Appeal, which John and Andrea launched in 2010.
Thornton Manor was the elegant setting for a glamorous ball organised by footballer John Barnes and his wife, Andrea. The black tie occasion at the Wirral venue was in aid of the Snowdrop Appeal, which John and Andrea launched in 2010.
Andrea explained that the cause is very personal: ‘My husband and I lost our daughter, Anaya, when I was almost eight months pregnant. We realised we must do something to try and make this tragic experience less painful for parents who have to suffer the same.
So far we have helped to build two bereavement suites in Arrowe Park Hospital which enable parents to deliver their child in a room that is less clinical and provides them with a secure, tranquil environment to spend precious time with their child.
‘We have also donated �15,000 to the Liverpool Women’s Hospital for a similar project. This year we hope to support The Countess of Chester Hospital.’
Guests included interior designer Kelly Hoppen, singer/songwriter Stephen Langstaff and bra maker Michelle Mone.
