Pictures from the Ashbourne Show 2010 held at Osmaston
The efforts of the Ashbourne Shire Horse Society, whose President this year is Sir Andrew Walker-Okeover Bt, came to fruition with an impressive 119th Ashbourne Show held at Osmaston. Hopes were high for another great event at the Society’s traditional Cheese & Wine Evening immediately preceding the show and on the day the atmosphere was as bright and friendly as ever, despite approaching rainclouds.
In the Shire Horse section Paul Bedford’s ‘Bodafon Sophie’ qualified for the Horse of the Year Show, and the poultry and pets proved a great success. There were plenty of tempting trade stands, a packed ‘food hall’ and Ashbourne and District Camera Club sent out a challenge with their ‘Do you know where in Derbyshire?’ competition. Cattle and horses, sheep and goats all showed to advantage in an impressive Grand Parade. All in all another excellent show with preparations already underway to celebrate the 120th event next year.
