Essex is a beautiful county, shown through these photographs. Here is some beautiful photography sent to us at Essex Life by three readers.

I have always loved birds and animals and after I retired I had time, in between spending great time with the grandchildren, to draw, paint and photograph them. I spend hours watching birds in the garden, such as the noisy baby sparrows and starlings who roost in our honeysuckle hedge and cheep demandingly non-stop in springtime, and any others who can get a look in. On frosty winter mornings I am mad enough to venture into the garden in nightie and goloshes to break the ice on the birdbath and put out a variety of food for the birds before getting our own breakfast. Any delay in this and the blackbird will pointedly come right up to the back door and stare accusingly. I can’t imagine life without birds. I am an amateur photographer who has lived in Essex most of my life. I thought you might like the photos I took today of a baby oyster catcher feeding at Heybridge Basin.

I’m a professional photographer and I work regularly with the RHS, photographing their gardens around the UK. One of my favourite gardens to photograph is RHS Garden Hyde Hall, near Chelmsford. I’ve been commissioned to shoot Hyde Hall in every season and the garden looks great all year round. Each time I visit Hyde Hall I find something new to photograph, or a new way of capturing a scene I’ve already covered. I really like the lush greens in the garden in spring; the hot colours of summer; autumn colours reflected in the ponds and winter frosts in the Dry Garden.

I’ve loved taking photos as long as I can remember and thought you might like these ones. My love for life has encouraged me along the way to want to capture an image of life. I love poppies, flowers with bees or natural photos of family and friends. I am now retired, so I have more time, although I never seen to have enough. I live in Epping and am married with three children and two grandchildren.
