Searching for the best of the antiques scene in Surrey? With our Antiques Roadshow special appearing in May’s Surrey Life magazine, we challenged our resident expert Ali Heath to pick her top ten favourites. Whether you are looking for antique furniture, unique garden finds, decorative accessories, jewellery, rugs, maps, books or movie paraphernalia, then the below will surely inspire…

1. Petersham Nurseries

Petersham Nurseries, is one of my favourite places to visit, offering a magical space combining the best of antiques, plants, outdoor furniture and food. Owned by Gael & Francesco Boglione, is set at the foot of their home, Petersham House, at the base of Richmond Hill. Saved from the clutches of developers and multinational garden centres, the garden-loving Bogliones bought the run-down nursery and reunited it with the original Petersham House estate, separated for over 30 years. After extensive restoration work it re-opened in 2004 totally transformed and totally mesmerizing in its impact on those that know and love it. For antiques think antique cloches, trugs, shutters, vintage outdoor furniture, mirrors, wirework, Italian terracotta pots, cast iron urns, statues and delightful French enamelware. It is a destination shop and the Tea-house or Café should be savored too.
