Imogen Stubbs was among many thespians who joined a Cabaret for Cancer charity night at Manchester’s Royal Exchange Theatre.
She joined Dean Andrews of Life on Mars and Charlie Dale of Casualty to help raise money for a breast cancer charity. Some stars sang for the audience.
Coronation Street’s Sally Dynevor, Julie Hesmondhalgh and Mark Addy hosted the night in aid of cancer research at The Christie, the Genesis Foundation in Manchester and Beechwood Cancer Care in Stockport.
Antony Cotton and Graeme Hawley from Coronation Street, Jeff Hordley of Emmerdale also supported the event.
The evening was organised by actress Morag Siller, best known for BBC1’s Casualty and ITV’s Ladies of Letters. She was diagnosed with stage three breast cancer last year.
When she got over the initial shock and treatment, she decided to do something to help other women who have been diagnosed.
Morag said: ‘There are many people out there making cancer easier to live with. It’s invaluable to have quality of life. Fundraising and charity benefits like this are the way we can help raise enough money for research so hopefully in our lifetime we can find a cure.’
Music was provided by Steven Wilkie, Ian Buckle and comedian Kate Robbins, actor Kieran Cunningham, Eimear Bradley, and actor Ian Bartholomew. Children from Stagecoach and the Manchester School of Samba, the Manchester Light Orchestra and magician Peter Moran also took part in the cabaret.
