Hundreds of members of the public joined the children, staff, patrons and supporters of Ashford children’s charity, The Caldecott Foundation, as they celebrated their centenary with a moving Service of Thanksgiving at Canterbury Cathedral.
The charity’s patron, The Archbishop of Canterbury, led the ceremony, which included hymns sung by King’s School Chamber Choir and Caldecott Choir, readings from Caldecott residents both past and present and a candle-lighting ceremony.
A particular highlight of the service was a moving poem written and read by Zinzi, 15, a Caldecott resident and pupil; Rowan Williams referred back to Zinzi’s words in his address.
The collection raised more than 3,000 towards the Centenary Appeal. To donate: 01303 815 634 fundraising@caldecottfoundation.co.uk
