Choose a locally grown tree and indulge in a fabulously festive experience with a visit to one of these local growers - you might even spot some reindeer too.

And if you're looking to make your Christmas eco-friendly this year, be sure to dispose of your Christmas tree responsibly or re-plant it when the festive season is over.

Catsfield Christmas Tree Farm, Battle

This farm offers a one-stop service - you can visit and choose your tree yourself, order online and even arrange to have the tree collected after Christmas. There's a great choice on offer - from Fraser Fir to Norway Spruce, with Nordmann Fir the most popular.

You can also choose a pot-grown tree which can be brought inside year after year, and for every tree they fell, the owners plan another in its place.

Furze Firs, Horsham

Owned by three local families, this friendly plantation sells Nordmann firs (the most popular in the UK due to its relatively slow needle drop). You can buy pre-cut, cut your own or choose a pot-grown tree, and the business also offers a click-and-collect service.

For this year, the plantation has a booking system for weekends to avoid the site growing too busy, so do visit the website beforehand.

Balcombe Estate Sawmill

Homegrown and freshly cut Christmas trees are on offer, with the estate planning to offer a drive-through system to minimise contact between staff and customers.

The varieties on offer are Norway spruce, Serbian Spruce and Nordmann fir and one of their trees were chosen to grace the Tate Britain in 2016 when it was installed upside-down to highlight the gold-painted roots, which Iranian artist Shirazeh Houshiary recognised as "the source of its continued stability, nourishment and longevity."
