Classic Jazz & Blues at Cotswold Cricket Museum

The monthly live Jazz night at the Cotswold Cricket Museum in Stow-on-the-Wold continues apace with the JB Jazz and Blues Band on Thursday, March 28.

Pianist and vocalist John Beckingham fronts one of Gloucestershire's finest and most popular Jazz groups. The band also features saxophonist and clarinetist Roger Manering, double bassist Tony Capaldi and drummer Paul Holder. Coming from different backgrounds the band brings together four extremely talented musicians with the common approach to have fun.

Through appearances at festivals and jazz venues across the UK the band have developed a considerable following due, in no small part, to the band philosophy that their job is to entertain. This approach has earned them the prestigious Staffordshire Jazz Society ‘Band of the Year’ award twice in the last three years.

They have also made a guest appearance in the hit Channel 4 comedy series Spaced due to the fact that John's son is none other than star comedy actor Simon Pegg. They performed Louis Jordan's Is You Is or Is You Ain't My Baby in the closing scene of the first series, a song typical of the band's repertoire. Other artists whose material features in their set includes Louis Prima and Fats Waller.

This will be the third Jazz night hosted at the Cotswold Cricket Museum and the museum are anticipating an evening as successful as the first two.

The night features nationally renowned pianist Alex Steele and his group featuring star bassist Clive Morton (Frank Sinatra, Jamie Cullum) and guest vocalist Bex.
