Collections Unwrapped talk: Thursday, February 7

Whilst the Art Gallery & Museum is closed for its new build the Friends have organised a series of talks to raise awareness of the museum’s fantastic collections. The second series which started in the autumn kicked off again in January and is about what people will be able to see in the new development.

The series continues with Helen Brown on the new art gallery; From Brussels to Cheltenham, the Baron de Ferrieres and his gift on Thursday, February 7. Helen Brown is the Collections Manager at the Art Gallery & Museum and also Curator of Fine Art. The talk will focus on the founding collection of 17th century and later Dutch and Flemish art given to the town by the Baron de Ferrieres, the Mayor and MP in 1898. Helen will also be talking about how the art gallery will be used to show different aspects of the fine art collections.

The talks, which are open to the public, are on Thursday evenings at the Queen’s Hotel, starting at 6pm with a complimentary glass of wine, with the talk from 6.30 to 7.30pm. Tickets at £8 for Friends, £9 for non-friends, are on sale at the Tourist Information Centre in the Promenade in advance and also on the door. All proceeds go to the Friends for their continuing support of the Art Gallery & Museum’s development.
