More than 300 guests were at the official opening of the latest exhibition by David Hockney at York Art Gallery.

The celebrated Bradford-born artist, who has spent much of his working life in Los Angeles, now lives in Bridlington. His latest exhibition, a 40ft piece called Bigger Trees near Warton, has been at the Tate Gallery, London and is being shown for the first time outside the capital.

The exhibition will go to Hull and Bradford before it leaves the county.
