MORE than 3,000 was raised at a Gala Ball at The Last Drop Hotel in Bromley Cross, Bolton in aid of the charity, Facing Africa, who work with children suffering with the disease NOMA.

The ball was hosted by Andy Bassett, who after watching a BBC documentary last year was so touched by the plight of the children featured and the disease, that he committed to raising funds and awareness of the charity.

As well as this ball which featured entertainment from Marcus Hallows a local Bolton Elvis tribute act, Anne Kingston and a belly dance display as well as magicians and a grand raffle, Andy has planned a number of other fundraising events including running across the Sahara in 2012.
