RAIN
Horsham Museum and Art Gallery
With 26 galleries of displays, a year-round programme of activities and free entry, this is a great place to hide from a downpour. Children can follow a trail around the exhibits, get help with their homework and practise their reading at child-friendly information panels. A new session for preschoolers starts this month – on Wednesday afternoons they’ll be regaled with crafts, songs and stories (£5 per child).

OR SHINE
Horsham Park
This huge area of parkland, lakes, landscaped gardens, playgrounds and sports courts is a great place for children to burn off some energy, and it’s just a short walk from the town centre. In the Human Nature Garden they can find out how plants are used in everyday life; there’s a play maze guarded by a dragon, and for older children, a large skate park. Parents can relax with a picnic and there are events throughout the year.

At the edge of Horsham Park next to the pavilion, this much-loved café has indoor and outdoor seating and a great children’s menu, that includes sandwiches, pasta and lunch boxes.

The old town hall has been tastefully converted into a restaurant with locally sourced food and indoor and outdoor seating. The children’s menu includes mini burgers and macaroni cheese.
