The summer season of festivals has started! We’ve picked six great events in June to celebrate

- Hever Festival (throughout Jun)

Following Hever Festival Theatre's hugely successful 2018 season, 2019 sees a return with a programme of vibrant and varied performances. Come and enjoy a spiffing start to summer with Jeeves & Wooster: Perfect Nonsense. There are also two musical tributes: Streisand: The Music, The Lady, The Legend and Grapevine Soul, the ultimate Soul and Motown experience with great vocals, choreography, harmonies and costumes.

Hever Castle, Edenbridge

- The Food Fest (1 & 2 Jun)

Bringing foodies together and showcasing all the best that Kent has to offer, visitors will be able to enjoy award-winning fine wines, ciders, craft beers, vintage food trucks, stalls and produce from the Farmers' Market. Read more here.

- Black Deer Festival (21 to 23 Jun)

This award-winning Americana and country music festival pays homage to the cultural heritage of the USA. With more than 70 international bands playing across six stages, including Kris Kristofferson & The Strangers, Billy Bragg and The Mavericks, there's more than enough to keep you involved. Dive right into the diverse programme of music, food and drink, community and storytelling, toasted over smokey whiskies and classic meats.

Eridge Park, Tunbridge Wells

- Summer Festival (22 Jun)

There will be performances, music and plenty of food and drink. Come along for an afternoon of fun. Proceeds will go towards the school.

Mereworth Primary School, Maidstone

- Festival on the Hill (26 Jun to 2 Jul)

American singer Curtis Stigers will be opening this year's week-long festival of music, drama and the arts. In addition, the festival organisers promise a sensational line up of acts from world-renowned musicians and St Edmund's pupils, as well as events for all the family, workshops and talks.

- Wealden Literary Festival (29 and 30 Jun)

An enchanting weekend full of words, ideas, local food, arts and crafts that celebrate the nature of place. The line-up includes speakers such as Raynor Winn, Adam Nicolson, Hilary McKay, Isabella Tree, Julia Blackburn, Mark Cocker, Lucy Strange, Horatio Clare, Emma Mitchell, Naoko Abe and Peter Marren.
