A giant ice cream was created along with 99 free ice creams being given out on the day to celebrate the 99th anniversary and countdown to 100 years of the park

Dreamland Margate celebrated its landmark birthday - and the start of its 100th anniversary countdown - by creating a giant 99 ice cream on the park. It was created using 40 litres of ice cream and a giant Cadbury's Flake (Flake also turns 99 this year).

Only one visitor (Edith, three, right) was able to see the colossal confection on the day, but Dreamland kept the birthday mood going by giving away ninety-nine '99' ice creams to the first 99 customers who arrived at The Stylish Ice Cream Company's van on the Food Court.

The big birthday also marks the launch of the 'Dreamland 100 Memories' campaign, and the park is now appealing to people of all ages to share their memories on a special Facebook group that will stay open over the next 12 months as the park builds up to its centenarys.

Dreamland is free to enter and will open every day of the summer holidays until 1 September 2019.
